Registering for primary recruitment is the first step to finding your home in the sorority community on campus. UTM Panhellenic believes everyone has a purpose to discover, possibilities to explore, ways to thrive, and a place to belong. VP of Recruitment
Welcome to the University of Tennessee at Martin!
I am so thrilled for your interest in our Panhellenic Community. The decision to go through formal recruitment could be one of the most important decisions you make during your undergraduate years at UTM. The recruitment process opens the door to countless opportunities, and I truly believe it could be one of the most rewarding decisions you'll make at UTM. It's absolutely worth it!
UTM emphasizes a values-based recruitment process. While thinking about your personal values can feel overwhelming at first, taking the time to reflect on what truly matters to you can make a big difference. Clarifying your values will not only guide you but also enrich your recruitment experience. Recruitment is a time to help you determine if your values align with a chapter’s values. I highly encourage you to hold these values to your heart and keep them in your mind during recruitment, so that you can determine which chapter you would like to call home. This isn’t just for the next four years, it is for life.
During your recruitment journey, take the time to build a genuine connection with your recruitment counselors. These incredible women have selflessly stepped back from their own letters so they can help you find yours. They're here not only as mentors, but also as friends. To guide you through tough decisions, help you choose the perfect outfit, or simply lend a listening ear. Whether you need someone to share a laugh with, cry to, or just help ease your nerves, they’ve got you. This process should be exciting and full of joy! That brings me to another important point: get to know the other women in your group. These could be the women who run home with you on Bid Day, cheer you on as you find your place in another chapter, or even become your closest Panhellenic friends for years to come.
Always remember to be yourself. This process can be fun, emotional, exciting, and exhausting all at the same time. Just keep pushing through, keep an open mind, and it will be Bid Day before we all know it! Bid Day is a day that you will remember forever. I encourage you to trust the process even on the days you find it hard to. If you hold your values to your heart and be your true authentic self, you will end up right where you need to be!
I am so excited to meet you all this August. I hope you are all super excited for this new journey to begin. I sincerely hope through this experience you learn your values, make lifelong friends, and trust the process with an open mind. You are going to do amazing things and be an amazing woman!
