Letters of Recommendation
Letters of Recommendation: Welcome
Letters of recommendation serve as an introduction, so current members can learn more about you before primary recruitment. These official forms, which are unique to each sorority, are provided by each national organization for alumnae members to fill out on the behalf of a potential new member.
Securing letters of recommendation are not an obligation, so here are a few things to keep in mind if you choose to seek out letters of recommendation.
First, if you do not have letters of recommendation please do not worry. There are plenty of women on campus who joined sororities without one. Letters of recommendation are not a requirement.
While there are 26 NPC sororities, the University of Tennessee at Martin only includes 4 of them: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Chi Omega, and Zeta Tau Alpha. You only need ONE letter per chapter.
If you ask an alumna to write you a recommendation or you are asked by an alumna member it is customary to include a head shot, your academic transcript, and a resume. A thank you letter is also appropriate if an alumna writes you one.
